Attendees invited to the 2026 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2026) offline will have the opportunity to be the first to watch a special screening of the latest "Star Wars" movie "The Mandalorian and Gu Gu" at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple campus.

The focus of this year's WWDC will still be iOS 27 and the fully upgraded Siri. Many developers are also paying attention to the release of new systems such as visionOS 27. However, it seems that Apple is also planning to win some applause for the Apple Vision Pro during the conference. Director Jon Favreau publicly talked in April this year about using Apple headsets to better compose IMAX images when filming "The Mandalorian and Gu Gu" and to effectively control production costs on this basis.
Apple has now announced that it will screen the full version of "The Mandalorian and Gogu" at the Steve Jobs Theater on June 9, local time, and will arrange a special sharing session on the application of Apple technology in film production before the screening. The theater will open at 10 p.m. ET, followed by a pre-show session at 11 p.m. featuring specific use cases for devices such as the Apple Vision Pro in filming.
According to reports, this opening preview will welcome a "special guest". Considering that Jon Favreau has repeatedly publicly praised Apple Vision Pro's ability to preview IMAX images and improve the efficiency of on-site decision-making, it is widely expected that he will most likely appear at the WWDC special screening event. In April this year, when talking about how consumer technology can reversely assist film production, he said that through this type of head-mounted display equipment, "I can directly look back at that shooting and see what the future audience will see on the big screen" and that this technology "already existed before we intervened." However, Apple has not ruled out the possibility of inviting other creators of the film to attend.
All guests attending WWDC 2026 offline are eligible to register for this screening event, and the reservation channel will open at 5 pm Eastern Time on June 4. Due to limited seating at the Steve Jobs Theater, Apple will confirm movie viewing spots on a "first come, first served" basis. Apple has previously determined the offline participants of this WWDC through a lottery system. Developers who failed to win the lottery can only choose to watch the movie in ordinary theaters, but they will not see the unique technical preview session of this WWDC. "The Mandalorian and Gu-Gu" was officially released in theaters across the United States on May 22, 2026.
According to the established arrangement, WWDC 2026 will kick off with an online keynote speech on June 8. Apple will introduce a new generation of operating systems including visionOS 27 and related software and hardware updates.
