The 2026 Fortune 500 list is officially released. This is the 72nd year that Fortune has released the list. The revenue and profits of the companies on the list have reached record highs.The total revenue of all 500 companies on the list rose from US$19.91 trillion last year to US$20.98 trillion, an increase of approximately 5.4% from the previous year. The total revenue of the companies on the list is equivalent to two-thirds of the GDP of the United States that year.

In 2025, the total profits of these largest US companies will be approximately US$2.1 trillion, an increase of approximately 12% from the previous year.


Amazon surpassed Walmart to take the top spot, breaking Walmart’s 13-year run at the top spot.

Walmart ranked second, UnitedHealth Group ranked third, followed by Apple and Alphabet in fourth and fifth respectively.

In terms of profitability, the technology and financial industries remain the most profitable industries. Alphabet's profit last year was US$132.17 billion, an increase of about 32% from the previous year, and it continued to top the profit list.


NVIDIA's profit last year reached a record high of US$120.067 billion, a significant increase of approximately 64.8% from the previous year, rising to second place on the profit list.

Apple's profit last year was US$112.01 billion, an increase of about 19.5% from the previous year, but its ranking in the profit list fell one place to third.

Among the "Big Seven" of the U.S. stock market, except for Tesla and Apple, the rankings of the other five companies have improved. Google's parent company Alphabet, Nvidia, Apple, and Microsoft all had net profits of more than 100 billion US dollars last year.


There are 15 companies on this year's list that have achieved 10-year annualized total returns for shareholders of more than 30%, including Nvidia, AMD, Broadcom, Tesla and Eli Lilly.

Among them, Nvidia’s 10-year annualized total shareholder return in 2025 is 72%, ranking first on the list.
