According to the latest Japanese hardware sales data released by Famitsu, in the first week (from May 25 to May 31) after the price increase of Nintendo Switch 2 on May 25, sales plummeted from 247,880 units in the previous week to 31,751 units, a month-on-month decrease of 87%.

In April this year, Nintendo announced that it would increase the price of Switch 2 in the United States, Europe, Canada and Japan. Among them, the price adjustment in the Japanese market officially took effect on May 25: the price of the "Japan-only" region-locked version of Switch 2 sold only in Japan (a version common in Japan except Nintendo's official online store) rose from 49,980 yen (approximately $312) to 59,980 yen (approximately $374).
It is worth noting that after the price increase news was announced, Switch2 sales in Japan increased significantly. Data shows that in the three weeks before the news was announced, Switch2 sold 52,058 units, 44,280 units and 45,825 units respectively in Japan; and three weeks before the price increase took effect, sales further climbed to 214,438 units, 217,922 units and 247,880 units. This shows that a large number of consumers are rushing to buy before the price increases. Even so, the sales volume of 31,751 units in the first week after the price increase was still lower than the weekly average before the news was announced.

The price increase also had a significant impact on the sales of the original Switch. In the past six weeks, the weekly sales of the original Switch were 3,462 units, 4,513 units, 5,080 units, 7,960 units, 5,285 units and 2,731 units respectively, while only 229 units were sold last week, even surpassed by the Xbox Series X.

The following is the hardware sales list released by Famitsu in the Japanese market last week (cumulative sales are in brackets):
