XBOX chief strategy officer Matthew Ball recently admitted in an interview that due to factors such as AI, global hardware component prices have continued to rise, causing XBOX console production to face serious bottlenecks. Market demand currently exceeds supply capacity.

Ball said in the conversation: "This crisis has not yet improved. The time window for us and other manufacturers to respond is lengthening, which will restrict the entire hardware category." He admitted that the current demand for XBOX consoles has exceeded supply capacity. "We are producing at the fastest speed, but the space to increase the speed is extremely limited. This is not a question of whether players are willing to buy it - the demand is very strong, and the problem is that we cannot supply it."
Ball further pointed out that while supply exceeds demand to some extent reflects the popularity of the company's products, it is indeed a challenge that needs to be solved. He emphasized that memory shortages and other surges in component prices triggered by the AI boom are one of the core reasons for the current situation.

When talking about the future XBOX model Project Helix, Ball revealed that the component crisis may also affect the release of the console. He said the team is "trying to rethink everything about Helix" to ensure the new console remains "affordable" while still being "flexible". He also reiterated that no matter what difficulties it faces, XBOX has always been "committed to promoting the release of Project Helix."

Despite the challenges facing hardware production, Xbox plans to launch a new limited edition console later this year. Ball emphasized in the interview that the company's commitment to the hardware business will not waver.
