In the latest release of iOS 27 and macOS 27 "Golden Gate", Apple has adopted a new unified design scheme for the system default wallpaper. This is the first time that Apple has used the same set of theme artworks on multiple platforms, differentiated only by different variations. In the past, iOS, macOS and other platforms usually equipped their own default wallpapers with independent styles, but this time they jointly adopted a design called “Celosia”.

This set of wallpapers is composed of large-area arc-shaped surfaces overlaid with soft shadows, inspired by the cascading effect of multiple layers of petals or folded paper. At the same time, the arc combination also vaguely outlines the number "27", directly linking the visual theme to the system version. In the light mode, the picture transitions from warm sandy gold to soft purple; in the dark mode, the main color is deep indigo, supplemented by silver-blue edges, giving the overall look a more emotional and calm look.

In terms of mobile devices, Celosia wallpapers in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 provide three series: standard version, dynamic version and color version. Each series is independently optimized for light and dark modes for the home screen and lock screen. macOS 27 “Golden Gate” has built-in dynamic wallpaper versions. Users can only call these wallpapers within the system to achieve visual effects that adjust with time or interface changes.

It is worth mentioning that this unified design has also been extended to the car platform: in the first developer beta version, CarPlay provides up to 14 Celosia wallpaper options, also covering light and dark modes. In terms of color matching, these car wallpapers include a variety of variations such as gray, purple, red, cyan, blue, brown, dark blue and green, and provide a "Hero" theme with both light and dark versions, further strengthening the sense of continuity and recognition of the unified visual language in the Apple ecosystem.
