The lawsuit was made public Tuesday in federal court in Oxford, Mississippi. The lawsuit alleges that Musk's companies were negligent, failed to take steps to curb related nuisance problems, and constituted a public nuisance by creating excessive and intolerable noise. Three local residents filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of a group expected to exceed 10,000 people.

“The AI craze is wreaking havoc on communities across the United States, causing thousands of residents to suffer from near-constant noise and vibration,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for what it says are emotional distress, reduced property value and other damages, as well as the return of an undisclosed amount of profits. This profit refers to the profits made by the defendant as a result of the wrongful conduct.

Musk himself is not a defendant. MZX Tech, a subsidiary of xAI, is also named as a defendant. As of press time, xAI and SpaceX did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
