According to reports from Reddit users and confirmation from the official entry list, Gray Newell, the eldest son of Valve head Gabe Newell (G Fat), will participate in the legendary event - the 24 Hours of Le Mans - to be held on June 13.
Gray has joined the Heart of Racing team since 2021, which was co-founded by racing drivers Ian James, Yann Bernier and Gabe Newell. This season is Gray’s first time competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, which is also the highest level stage of international endurance events. Prior to this, he competed in GT4, GT America Series and GT World Challenge America's Cup.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans, which began in 1923, is one of the oldest and most prestigious sports car events in the world. Except for a ten-year interruption due to the Great Depression and World War II, it has been held every year since 1949. Each car is driven by a rotation of three drivers, each lasting approximately two to four hours. The competition is held on a fixed track, and the winner is the one who travels the longest distance within the time limit. The current record is 5,410 kilometers set in 2010.
