Google recently announced that its Gemini chatbot feature built into the Chrome browser has been expanded to more countries and regions, and is available to users in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East on desktop and iOS. Google has listed a complete list of regions covered by this update on its support page. Users need to set the region of their device to a supported region to use this feature.
However, the EU market is still excluded this time. Google did not give a specific reason, only saying that it may advance it at a later time. Gemini in Chrome first launched in the United States last year, expanded to Canada, New Zealand, and India in March this year, and now its coverage has significantly expanded again.
As the name suggests, Gemini in Chrome integrates Google's Gemini artificial intelligence assistant directly into the Chrome browser, allowing it to "see" the tabs and windows currently opened by the user and provide assistance based on the content therein. For example, it can automatically summarize web content, cross-reference information between multiple tabs, use the Nano Banana 2 model to generate and edit images, etc.
With deep integration with various Google services, Gemini in Chrome can also call the calendar directly in the sidebar to schedule meetings for users, look up location information in maps, compose and send emails in Gmail, or answer users' questions about the content of YouTube videos, all without leaving the current browsing page. Through these integrated functions, Google hopes to use Gemini to improve users' search, creation and daily office efficiency in the browser.
