Hideo Kojima has posted a new photo with American model Hunter Schafer while they were working on the horror game OD. Hunter Shaffer's participation in the project was officially confirmed as early as when "OD" was announced at the 2023 TGA Awards Ceremony. She stars alongside Sophie Lillis and late actor Udo Kier, and the project itself is being developed by Kojima Productions in collaboration with director Jordan Peele and with support from Xbox Game Studios.
While Kojima didn't reveal further details about his meeting with Schaeffer, he has long been known for his aggressive use of photogrammetry, motion capture and facial expression capture techniques to create highly realistic characters. It is this approach that was previously used in the development of the Death Stranding series.
OD remains one of the most mysterious projects in the industry. In Kojima's words, the game aims to explore the limits of human fear while blurring the lines between movies and video games. The work was developed using Microsoft cloud technology and is positioned as a new form of interactive entertainment.
