According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is preparing to launch the second-generation iPhone Air in the spring of 2027, aiming to enhance the appeal of this thin and light device. People familiar with the matter said that the current prototype of the new model, code-named V62, adds a second rear camera for ultra-wide-angle shooting. They said the model is currently undergoing advanced testing within Apple.

According to people familiar with the matter, although the appearance of the device remains unchanged, Apple is also working to improve battery life. It's unclear whether this will be achieved by increasing battery capacity (which may not be practical for the Air's compact body) or by improving energy efficiency.
The iPhone Air was first released in September 2025 as part of Apple's plan to expand its product line. The company reportedly plans to launch its first foldable smartphone later this year and is working on a 20th-anniversary iPhone to be released in 2027 that will feature a curved screen that wraps around the edges of the device.
If the new Air is released in the spring, there will be about a year and a half between the first and second generations. However, product launch timing and specifications may ultimately change.
An Apple spokesman declined to comment.
