Valve today updated the official reservation page for the Steam controller. Based on the latest production capacity and demand assessment results, it provides a clearer order time estimate window for players who submit reservations at different times. Due to market demand far exceeding expectations, Valve launched a pre-order system earlier this year. Players need to register for a reservation first, and can complete the purchase within a limited time after the spot arrives.

On May 8 this year, Valve opened the pre-order channel for the new generation of Steam controllers to players. At that time, the official only promised to start the first batch of sales the next week after the announcement, but did not give a clear timetable for the supply rhythm of subsequent batches. With the number of pre-orders rising rapidly, Valve has recently re-evaluated its overall production capacity and order backlog, and has adjusted the time prompt information of the pre-order system accordingly.
According to the content currently displayed on the page, Valve currently provides players with three estimated order time windows, namely "before September 2026", "before December 2026" and "at some point in 2027". After completing the reservation, players can log in to their Steam account and visit the Steam Controller page to view their estimated order time. For users who already have reservation records, the expected order window assigned by the system will be automatically displayed below their account, without additional operations.

Valve also confirmed that the existing 72-hour order time limit rule will remain in place. When it is the player's turn to officially place an order, they will be given an order window of about three days. They need to complete the payment within this time period, otherwise they may miss the current batch and have to wait for subsequent supply arrangements. In the latest announcement, Valve also specifically pointed out that based on the current reservation volume and production schedule, "existing reservations overall point to a 2027 shipment" time frame, which means that the actual receipt time of some late reservation users may be postponed to 2027.
This adjustment by Valve responds to players’ previous concerns about the unclear supply rhythm to a certain extent, and provides a clearer reference for users who are still waiting in line. For players who have successfully pre-ordered, the most important thing at the moment is to pay attention to the expected order window displayed in their account, and pay attention to the 72-hour order period at that time, so as not to wait in line again due to missing the purchase window.
