Valve has finally announced the price of its new living room PC Steam Machine, which will start at $1,049 and will go on sale on June 29. Users can register their purchase intentions starting today. Valve will randomly sort the queue at 1 pm ET on Thursday, and those who register later will join in order from the end of the queue. The first batch of purchase invitation emails will be sent out on June 29.

Valve offers a total of four configurations this time. The 512GB version is priced at $1,049, and the 512GB package with Steam Controller is priced at $1,128; the 2TB version is priced at $1,349, and the 2TB package with Steam Controller is priced at $1,428. The 2TB model will also come with two replaceable panels, "red fabric" and "solid walnut", in addition to a standard black panel.

From a positioning point of view, the price of Steam Machine is significantly higher than that of competing consoles. The digital version of PS5 is priced at US$599.99, the Xbox Series

However, Valve hopes that the value of Steam Machine is reflected in compatibility and openness. It can run the Steam game library accumulated by players for years or even decades, and it is also a complete Linux PC that users can customize according to their own needs. Valve also said that the pricing of this product is only based on the cost of components, and no subsidies are used to lower the price.

The price of Steam Machine has always been the focus of attention from the outside world. Valve had let the media experience this device as well as the new Steam Controller and Steam Frame VR headsets in late 2025. At that time, the company stated that the new hardware was scheduled to ship in early 2026; but in February this year, Valve mentioned that continued memory and storage shortages forced it to reexamine pricing and shipping arrangements. In March, it changed its words and said that "all three products will be shipped this year."

Steam Controller was released separately in May and sold out quickly, and then Valve opened a reservation queue system. As for Steam Frame, Valve has yet to announce a specific price and release date.
