Today, Samsung Electronics officially released a new generation of UFS 5.0 flash memory solution, which it claims is currently the fastest in the industry. According to reports,Samsung UFS 5.0 has a maximum sequential read speed of 10.8GB/s and a maximum write speed of 9.5GB/s, both of which are more than double that of the previous generation UFS 4.1.It can further shorten the loading time of large applications and end-side AI models.
While performance is doubled,The energy efficiency of the new solution is more than 40% higher than that of Samsung UFS 4.1.
By introducing clock gating, multi-voltage and other technologies, UFS 5.0 requires less power when transmitting the same data, helping to reduce the overall power consumption of the device and extend battery life.
In addition, Samsung UFS 5.0 adopts a more compact packaging design, which is 16.7% smaller than the previous generation, which can save the internal space of the device and provide a more flexible layout space for other hardware such as batteries and imaging.
According to plan, threeStar will begin mass production of UFS 5.0 products with capacities up to 1TB in the fourth quarter of this year, mainly for next-generation mobile terminals such as flagship smartphones, XR headsets, and AI wearable devices.
