On July 4, it was reported that an "Import Alert" document recently disclosed by the U.S. FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) showed that cyclamate was detected in a "black tea and lemon flavored tea" beverage produced by Wahaha Group on April 6, 2026, and its type was marked as "DWPE" (detained without physical inspection).

Relevant U.S. regulations clearly stipulate that cyclamate and its salts (including calcium salts and sodium salts) are substances prohibited from use in food. As long as food contains cyclamate, it is classified as "containing unsafe food additives" in the eyes of the FDA.
Informed sources close to Wahaha have revealed that this product fully complies with China's national food safety standards. This incident was a personal act of a dealer exporting without authorization and was not an official act of the company. Wahaha is still conducting internal verification.
