On July 6, former Huawei "genius boy" Li Bojie publicly complained about DeepSeek's interview process on social platforms. He mentioned that the process was slow and cumbersome, and that the interviewer had attitude problems and questioned him about plagiarism. He felt "seriously offended."

"There will be no interviews scheduled half a month after passing the written test. Offers from other companies have already come down, and the interview was only arranged after repeated urging." Li Bojie also mentioned that during the second interview, the interviewer was late.
The interview process was not pleasant, and he was questioned by the interviewer about plagiarism. "Because there were two screens in the coding interview, the interviewer said that I kept glancing at the left screen and said that I was copying code. He asked me to stop copying code and said that if I could not prove that I was not copying code, the interview could not continue."
Li Bojie chose to terminate the interview and believed that the interviewer's performance was different from what he imagined DeepSeek to be.
Li Bojie is a PhD candidate in computer science at the University of Science and Technology of China and one of the first batch of Huawei's "Genius Youth" program candidates. According to his personal website, he has published many papers at top conferences such as SIGCOMM SOSP, NSDI, ATC, and PLDI, and has won the ACM China Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award and the "Microsoft Scholar" scholarship. He is currently engaged in large-scale model entrepreneurship and is the chief scientist of Pine AI.

Previously, on June 25, DeepSeek launched the largest recruitment in the company's history. The recruitment positions cover 7 categories including algorithms, R&D, operation and maintenance, products, data engineers and functional departments. A total of 33 positions are open. The work locations include Beijing and Hangzhou, and all positions accept internships.
DeepSeek said it is "working hard to at least double the size of all departments" and promised to allow newcomers to directly participate in the core and most important tasks, hoping that employees can quickly grow into top talents in the industry. DeepSeek had no official comment on this interview.
