Tesla Inc said on Tuesday its Cybertruck electric pickup truck could receive U.S. government electric vehicle tax credits starting later this year. "Cybertruck has the potential to qualify for federal tax credits later in 2024," the company wrote on its website.
All-wheel-drive versions of the Cybertruck lose their eligibility for tax credits in early 2024 after new battery procurement guidelines from the U.S. Treasury took effect.
Currently, among Tesla’s existing models, different versions of Tesla Model Y, Model 3 performance version and Model X long-range version are still eligible for full tax credits.
Under new U.S. government guidelines, the number of electric vehicles eligible for tax credits has dropped to 19 models, with only 13 models eligible for the full tax credit.
