The annual consumer electronics "Spring Festival Gala" - the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, USA, will be held from January 9th to 12th local time. The CES exhibition began in 1967 and is hosted by the Consumer Electronics Association (CTA). Held in Las Vegas every January, it is the world's largest and most influential annual consumer electronics technology exhibition. CES over the years has gathered the core manufacturers and the most advanced concepts and technologies in the field of consumer electronics.

As the weather vane of technology in the new year, the outside world expects that the craze of artificial intelligence will become more obvious at this year's CES, and many debut products will be equipped with a large amount of AI technology.

Tracing back to the source, all this has to start in November 2022, when OpenAI released ChatGPT, which quickly became the focus of attention and started a series of AI arms races.

However, at CES last year, there was not much discussion about generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), because the six weeks apart were not enough for people to discover that "possibly the greatest technological revolution since smartphones" has arrived, and the situation in 2024 will not be so low-key.

Media analysis predicts that artificial intelligence can be seen everywhere at CES: cars, headsets, cameras, speakers, TVs, etc. These products may be equipped with chatbots to handle verbal commands. In addition, companies such as Intel, Qualcomm, and AMD are also expected to announce chips that support AI services to support these consumer electronics products.

“AI will overwhelm everything”

Anshel Sag, chief analyst of technology analysis and consulting firm Moor Insights & Strategy, said that CES is the place where industry trends are shaped. If artificial intelligence at CES last year was a wave, this year it will be a tsunami.

Sag added, "AI will be so overwhelming that it will be so widespread and dominant that some people will even get tired of it."

Gary Shapiro, the organizer of CES and CEO of CTA, said that AI may be the main theme this year, but in the future it will quickly become commonplace and eventually fade out of people's sight. "AI is like the Internet. This huge background will not disappear, but companies will not say things like 'the Internet is coming' at CES."

As for other industries, Wired, a well-known American technology magazine, reported that the automotive industry may not steal as much focus as it has in recent years. Correspondingly, health technology will be emphasized more, and beauty technology is expected to become the most cutting-edge topic for the first time in the history of CES. L'Oreal will deliver a keynote speech at the conference.

Sag added that extended reality (XR) technology will see a resurgence at CES as some companies prepare for or compete with Apple's Vision Pro headset. According to the latest news from the supply chain, VisionPro is expected to be launched in the United States near the end of this month.
