Bloomberg's Mark Gurman believes that Apple is developing a new Mac Studio, which is likely to be launched in the second half of 2024. Gurman mentioned the details in this weekend's "PowerOn" newsletter. He explained that the new MacStudio is likely to be equipped with the as-yet-unannounced fourth-generation M3 chip.

Like previous generations, it will double the processor size of the "Max" version, meaning it will come with up to 32 CPU cores and 80 GPU cores.

Taiwanese research organization TrendForce believes that Apple will launch a new MacStudio using the M3Ultra chip at WWDC in June, just like last year's M2Max and M2UltraMacStudio. According to Gurman, Apple is already developing two follow-up models before launching these models in 2023.

Gurman also believes that Apple is likely to update the Mac Pro with this new high-end chip, contrary to claims made earlier this week. He believed there was no way Apple would abandon the machine again after just a year.

He also added that while upcoming devices like the M3 MacBook Air could be popular if marketed properly, the 2024 Mac roadmap "doesn't look promising," indicating skepticism about Apple's ability to turn around poor Mac sales.
