The world's largest domestically produced container ship goes on sea trials: a 22-story residential building can be called a "sea fortress"

The world's largest container ship, named "Oriental Valencia", successfully left the waters of the Nantong section of the Yangtze River today for a trial voyage in relevant waters. The ship is the fourth ship of the same series independently developed, designed and built by a shipbuilding company in Nantong, Jiangsu. It is also the first world's largest container ship to be completed in my country in 2024. It will be delivered to "Orient Overseas", a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping Holdings.

Its total length is 399.99 meters, its width is 61.3 meters, its depth is 33.2 meters, and its maximum cargo capacity is 24,188 standard containers.

The deck area is equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields.When fully loaded, it can reach the height of 22 floors of ordinary residential buildings, making it a "castle on the sea."Integrating today's cutting-edge shipbuilding technologies, many indicators have reached world-leading levels.

According to reports, the 24,188 TEU ultra-large container ship is currently the largest container ship on the market and can be called a pearl in the field of ship design. Only a few shipyards in the world have the design and construction capabilities for this type of ship.

The "Oriental Valencia" will be the first new ship put into operation by OOCL in 2024, serving the company's Far East-Northwest Europe AEU1 line.
