Asus launched a number of screen products at this year's CES, including a face screen. AirVisionM1 is a pair of glasses equipped with a wearable display that displays content from a connected phone or computer. The glasses include a 1080p MicroOLED display with a 57-degree vertical perspective field of view, presenting a sizable screen in front of the user's eyeballs.
The AirVision M1 may sound familiar, and even beyond the fact that it sounds like an Apple product, there are three different things about it. TCL also makes similar glasses: NXTWearS and the latest SPlus. Like the NXTWear, Asus' glasses offer built-in speakers and use a wired connection to stream content to the screen via DisplayPort. But AirVision adds some interesting new features: a touchpad embedded in the left temple so users can make adjustments to the display and pin the virtual screen to a specific location.
Judging from ASUS's renderings, both NXTWear and AirVision have a problem: they both look a bit bulky. While they're not meant to be worn out and about all the time, even for short periods of time on a plane or in a cafe, they need to obey the first rule of wearables: You have to want to wear them.
Asus hasn't revealed pricing or availability for AirVision yet. For reference, TCL's glasses sell for $399, so expect them to be in that range as well.
