Apple sent an email to US users today with some tips on pre-ordering the Vision Pro starting at 5am PT next Friday, January 19th. First of all, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the ordering process, you need an iPhone or iPad with FaceID.
"When you order Apple Vision Pro, you will need to scan your face with an iPhone or iPad with FaceID," Apple's email said. "This helps us determine the correct size of LightSeal and headband, which work together to give you a precise fit."
Second, make sure the Apple Store app is updated, as the latest version released on January 11 supports VisionPro facial scanning.
Third, Apple stated that customers who need vision correction need to upload a valid, unexpired prescription issued by a U.S. ophthalmology professional institution after checkout.
"Because Apple Vision Pro is designed for use without glasses, we worked with ZEISS to customize optical inserts for most prescriptions," Apple said. "When you order, we'll ask a few simple questions to find out if you need optical lenses. If so, you'll upload a valid, unexpired prescription from a U.S. eye care professional after checkout."
Users can add and store your vision prescriptions in the Health app on iPhone.
After pre-ordering, VisionPro will be available in the U.S. on Friday, February 2. According to an email from Apple, customers can sign up for demonstrations of the headset at local Apple stores starting at 8 a.m. local time that day, and places will be available on a first-come, first-served basis through the weekend.
Pricing for the VisionPro starts at $3,499 in the U.S. with a minimum storage capacity of 256GB.
