Recently, people close to ByteDance revealed that the company is preparing to build R&D centers in Canada, Australia and other places. At present, some R&D centers have been in trial operation for about half a year, and will support the R&D of multiple overseas businesses such as TikTok, CapCut, and Lemon8 in the future. ByteDance plans to focus on local recruitment and assist in the establishment of relevant R&D centers through a small number of expatriates.
It is understood that in the past six months, the company has selected a small number of engineers from the United States, China, Singapore and other places to participate in the preparations. Among them, a total of 120 people have been dispatched from China to the R&D centers in the two places, including product, R&D and operation positions.
Relevant people said that this move is to cope with the development of overseas business and better meet the needs of users in different markets.
