According to VR Gyro, last month, Tencent received a notice from Meta that it would suspend the current cooperation between the two parties on this generation of XR hardware. According to reports, the reason for the suspension of cooperation may be conflicts and differences in concepts between Tencent and Meta-related teams on many details of the project.

In November last year, foreign media reported that Tencent had reached a preliminary agreement with Meta to sell a new low-end VR headset in China by the end of 2024. Meta will receive most of the revenue from equipment sales, while Tencent will receive more from content and service revenue.

At the same time, the report pointed out that the agreement is provisional and the details may change. Nowadays, it is reported that the cooperation between Tencent and Meta has been suspended, and the industry speculates that the two parties may have conflicts on the details of project advancement.

It is reported that Tencent and Meta originally planned to launch a "Quest3 Entry Edition" XR device in the Chinese market. Except for the chip upgrade, other parameters are "almost the same as Quest2."

As of press time, Tencent has not responded to this.
