Home appliance manufacturer Haier Group recently passed a legal notice requiring developers of the open source HomeAssistant plug-in to delete related projects on GitHub, an open source and private software project hosting platform. According to foreign media reports, the person who received the deletion request was German software developer Andre Basche. The plug-in he developed allows users to control air conditioners, air purifiers, dishwashers, induction cookers, steam ovens, refrigerators, washing machines and dryers launched by Haier and other brands through HomeAssistant.
According to foreign media reports, Haier’s European Security and Governance Department sent a legal notice requesting AndreBasche to delete the plug-in project on GitHub, which was related to a violation of Haier’s terms of service.
In the report, foreign media gave part of the legal notice sent to AndreBasche by Haier's European Security and Governance Department, which mentioned that they found that two plug-ins developed by AndreBasche violated their terms of service.
Some foreign media also mentioned in reports that Haier's European Security and Governance Department stated in a legal notice to AndreBasche that he shared plug-ins on GitHub and used their services in an unauthorized manner, causing significant economic losses to the company and violating copyright law, requiring him to immediately delete the relevant plug-ins to avoid further legal action.
