There is no doubt that "Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Ancient Circle" is the brightest star at the second Xbox Developer Direct. This new first-person action-adventure game produced by MachineGames has been highly anticipated since its debut, and it is not far away from its official release. It is expected to be launched on the PC and Xbox Series S|X platforms later this year.
For those of you who may not remember, the game was announced three years ago and was executive produced by Bethesda's Todd Howard, the legend behind The Elder Scrolls, the recent Fallout series, and Starfield. It was he who actively promoted the development of this game. In a new interview posted on Lucasfilm's official website, we learned that Todd Howard conceived the story outline of "Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Ancient Circle."
Game director Jerk Gustafsson said: "We developed the story outline internally at Machine Games with Todd Howard.Todd Howard has always dreamed of making a story-driven game with the theme of the Great Circle, and this collaboration finally made this idea come true.. "
Gustafsson also explains the "big circle"”Realistic concept behind:
A "great circle" is any circle that completely bisects a sphere. On Earth, the most famous example is of course the equator. But in fact, large circles can extend from any point and are used in aviation navigation to plan routes. In the game, the "Great Circle" is not the equator, but a mysterious route connecting many historically important places, such as Giza, Easter Island, Sukhothai, Nazca, etc. The connection between these locations has always been a mystery, which provides a great adventure backdrop for our game. "
Game director Jerk Gustafsson went on to talk about the main pillars of the plot:
"Of course, we wanted to stay true to the character of Indiana Jones because that was the most important thing to us, and we wanted to make sure that his story was true to that point in time and that this chapter fit in with Indy's story.
The story of the game takes place about a year after the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" movie. We hope to explore Indy's state at this time. He has just separated from Marion and has lost himself again, immersed in his dedication to his work. We had great assistance from the team at Lucasfilm Games for this, and we reviewed creative feedback on the story with them to ensure our story stayed true to the franchise. "
