Elon Musk, who was widely criticized two months ago for an anti-Semitic post on his social media site X, said after visiting Auschwitz on Monday that there was less anti-Semitic content on X than on other social media platforms. But Musk admitted that he didn't realize anti-Semitism was a widespread problem in the United States until recently.
Musk made the remarks during an interview at a conference hosted by the European Jewish Association near the site of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. Musk has previously faced intense backlash over anti-Semitic content on X, including a post in which Musk himself amplified anti-Semitic conspiracy theories (Musk later apologized amid condemnation).
Musk said of anti-Semitism on X: "If you have 600 million people on the platform, it's never going to be zero, and there's a slim chance it's going to be zero." He added that X has "the least" anti-Semitism compared to other major platforms, although he didn't cite any evidence to support that claim, other than citing "external audits that we've done."
