Abstract:
According to People's Daily, the China Air Transport Association is taking the lead in formulating special group standards for ticket refunds and changes, and plans to officially release and implement them within this year. The standards require that all ticketing platforms and official airline channels must proactively announce refund and change rates, restrictions, and free refund and change scenarios through eye-catching fonts, mandatory pop-up prompts, etc. before passengers pay, so as to protect passengers’ right to know and choose.

Recently, the
"Refund of 15,000 yuan flight ticket only refunded more than 400 yuan" incident has attracted widespread attention
. Consumer Mr. Lin spent 15,217 yuan on an international ticket on the ticket purchase platform. Due to changes in his itinerary, he applied for a refund three days before departure, and only 432 yuan was refunded. After being reported by CCTV Finance and other media, Mr. Lin received the remaining refund on July 28, and the full amount of 15,217 yuan was credited to his account. Ctrip later responded that the processing was a standardized case handled based on the platform's six-layer service guarantee and was not an adjustment to the general refund policy. Some airlines have taken the lead in optimizing cancellation and change policies. China Eastern Airlines released a new version of its rules in early August, offering free voluntary cancellations and changes to all cabin classes 14 days in advance. CCTV Finance pointed out that the high refund fees have long lacked reasonable explanations, and relevant regulatory improvements still face challenges.
