Abstract:
Over the past few weeks, cracking techniques for current console systems have made significant progress due to advances in AI models. Although console cracking is usually a major problem that console manufacturers strive to solve as quickly as possible, Sony has another reason: because "GTA6" is about to be released, Sony is launching a "firmware war" with crackers.

One month after the PS5 system software version 14.10.00 was updated, version 14.22.00.00 was released today. This minor update introduces some "system software security fixes" and is undoubtedly the latest step in the firmware war between Sony and crackers.
The reason why this PS5 system update is attracting attention is that it is reported to be closely related to "GTA6", which will be released on November 19. According to the PlayStation Game Size website, which tracks PlayStation Network database updates, "GTA6" will require firmware version 14.22.00 instead of the previous version 14.10.00, which is unprecedented in the past.
However, extreme situations require extreme measures. Given that "GTA6" is expected to have the highest sales volume on PS5, Sony will never tolerate any piracy loopholes. In the age of AI, even the smallest software bugs can have serious consequences. Moreover, piracy may be just one of the consequences, as the game may be emulated and recompiled into a native PC version before it is even officially released, which would be disastrous for both Sony and Rockstar Games.
Even if Sony releases multiple PS5 firmware updates one after another, crackers and hackers will not give up. Foreign media predict that this conflict will continue even after the release of "GTA6" on November 19.
