Abstract:
The "GTA6" release trailer received 47 million views three days after it was launched on YouTube, exceeding the 34 million views accumulated by similar trailers of "Give Him Love 5" in about 13 years. Based on this data, the new trailer was played an average of about 175 times per second within 72 hours.
When the statistics were released, "GTA6" was about one month away from its planned launch in November. This set of figures reflects the attention the game received before its release, but cannot directly represent its sales performance after its release.
For comparison, "Give Him Love 5" was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, and its release trailer has continued to accumulate views since then. The game has sold more than 230 million copies over the years and remains popular more than ten years after its release. The long-term commercial performance of the previous game and players’ years of waiting for the sequel also form the background of the new game’s current popularity.
However, the two videos were released in different years, and the scale of YouTube users and the communication environment have also changed, so the number of views is not a direct comparison under the same conditions.
