Abstract:
On Thursday local time, a federal judge ordered U.S. President Donald Trump to restore CNN, MSNBC and Politico reporters' access to the White House, arguing that Trump's ban on the three news organizations may violate the Constitution.
The judge's ruling is a major setback for Trump in one of his biggest clashes with U.S. news organizations.
U.S. District Judge Tim Kelly issued the order while hearing a lawsuit filed by the news organizations challenging the president’s September 18 ban. Trump claimed on social media at the time that the three news organizations "should not be allowed to continue to write or report fiction and lies"; while lawyers from the U.S. Department of Justice tried to defend the ban on national security grounds.
