Apple’s statement reads:
We've discovered a few things that can cause your iPhone to run hotter than expected. During the first few days after setting up or restoring your device, your device may feel warm due to increased background activity.
We also discovered a bug in iOS 17 that affects some users and will fix it in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party applications that overloaded the system. We are working with these app developers to fix these issues.
