Micron Technology today announced that its Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) memory, the industry’s only 1-beta mobile-optimized memory, is now shipping production samples for use with Qualcomm Technologies’ latest flagship mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Micron LPDDR5X operates at the world’s fastest speed class of 9.6 gigabits per second (Gbps), providing the mobile ecosystem with the fast performance needed to unleash generative artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge. Micron LPDDR5X adopts industry-leading innovative 1β process node technology and can also provide advanced power-saving features for mobile users.

As the industry's fastest mobile memory, Micron's LPDDR5X reaches speeds of 9.6Gbps, increasing peak bandwidth by more than 12% compared to the previous generation, which is critical for enabling artificial intelligence at the edge. Snapdragon 8Gen3 allows powerful generative AI models to run natively on flagship smartphones, unlocking a new generation of AI-based applications and features. Enabling on-device AI also improves network efficiency and reduces the energy requirements and expenses of more expensive cloud solutions, which require data transfers to and from remote servers.
