ScansFactory shared a free technical demonstration of a medieval village scene using the Unreal Engine 5.4. This tech demo shows off a Witcher-like environment, which may give us a preview of what The Witcher 4 will look like.

ScansFactory is the same team that created the stunning "Roma" technology demo. Similar to that tech demo, this new demo also showcases graphic content to great effect.

The presentation includes a series of thatched-roof huts, wooden barns and storage rooms, all crafted to reflect traditional Slavic architectural styles. The demo also offers a variety of lighting options. PC users can choose between a bright sunny scene or a moody overcast atmosphere. Additionally, the scenes feature realistic elements such as stakes, fences, carts, and small storage areas, bringing the village to life.

The team offers two different versions. The first is the native resolution UE5.4 version (Link). The second is the version with DLSS (Link).

As you can see, this tech demo features some of the best graphics yet. Of course this is just a tech demo, not an actual game. However, it allows players to preview what kind of graphics effects future UE5 games will provide.

ScansFactory utilizes Nanite, Lumen and virtual shadow maps. As a result, lighting effects look incredible, and there's no pop-in feeling from previous Unreal engines when exploring environments.
