Toyota's new generation electric car will be launched in three years, priced at less than 200,000 yuan

Recently, it was reported thatToyota plans to launch a new generation of electric vehicles in 2026. After the new car is launched, its price will be 40% cheaper than bZ4X.For reference, the current Toyota’s guide price is 199,800-284,800.In other words, the price of a new car may be less than 200,000 yuan.

It is reported that the new generation of electric vehicles will be equipped with two different types of batteries, namely lithium iron phosphate batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries.

In order to provide corresponding models for different customer needs, Takeo Kato, Chairman of Toyota Motor Development Center, said:"We need various types of batteries, just like we have different types of engines."

Therefore, Toyota also said that reducing the height of the battery is a key factor in improving efficiency, because it can lower the height of the vehicle and reduce air resistance. The current bZ4X’s battery height is approximately 150mm, while the next model’s battery height will be reduced to 120mm.

In addition to lithium-ion batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries, Toyota is also working hard to develop solid-state batteries.Previously, Toyota stated that it had made a breakthrough in solid-state battery technology and planned to achieve mass production of solid-state batteries in 2028.
