Today, Fudan University’s official WeChat released news: As the 120th anniversary of the founding of Fudan University approaches,Li Ping, a 1985 alumnus of Fudan University's Department of Materials, polymer major, and Liao Mei, a 1986 alumnus of the Department of History, and his wife decided to make a one-time donation of 1 billion yuan to their alma mater to support the construction of Fudan University's Xuemin Institute for Advanced Study.
According to reports, Li Ping and Liao Mei met at Fudan University.After graduating from his undergraduate degree, Li Ping joined the business world and was the co-founder of CATL. Liao Mei studied at Fudan University for ten years and was the first domestic doctoral student under the guidance of the famous historian Professor Zhu Weizheng.
After leaving Fudan for many years, Li Ping and Liao Mei have always been concerned about the development of their alma mater. In November 2024, Li Ping and Liao Mei returned to their alma mater and heard about the idea of the school's high starting point construction research institute from the school's scientific research director.
After many in-depth exchanges and discussions with school leaders, Li Ping and Liao Mei decided to donate 1 billion yuan to support the construction of Fudan University Xuemin Institute for Advanced Study.
It is worth noting thatLi Ping is the co-founder of CATL and serves as the company’s vice chairman. According to the "2025 Hurun Global Rich List", Li Ping ranks 449th with a wealth of 52 billion yuan.
According to the 2024 annual report disclosed by CATL on March 14,Li Ping, 56 years old, serves as the company's vice chairman and is mainly responsible for company management and business development.Li Ping joined CATL in October 2014, served as chairman from November 2014 to June 2017, and has served as vice chairman since June 2017.
Li Pingzeng and Zeng Yuqun were both the actual controllers of Ningde Times. On February 8, CATL announced that the two had terminated their relationship as persons acting in concert. Since then, Zeng Yuqun has become the sole actual controller of CATL. Currently, Li Ping also serves as a director in many subsidiaries of CATL.
