Game developer Phoenix Labs conducted its second round of layoffs this week, according to some now-departed employees on LinkedIn. A company representative confirmed the layoffs to GI.biz. "After a rigorous review, we have decided to change the structure of our support team and have made the difficult decision to lay off a total of 34 employees across our publishing, human resources, IT and shared services teams," the company representative said.
"Our gaming team has not been impacted and work continues at PhoenixLabs. The FaeFarm DLC and Dauntless updates are progressing as planned, and we have exciting projects in the works to announce."
"We are grateful to each of the impacted members who helped build PhoenixLabs into what it is today. Their impact on the studio will be missed and continued through the studio's future work."
The studio conducted its first round of layoffs in May this year, laying off 9% of the company's employees. At the time, the studio said it was part of an initiative to "determine our best course for success and sustainability."
The studio has had an eventful year this year. It became independent from parent company Garena in February, and three co-founders have resigned from the company this year.
The company has just launched its first major content update for Goblin Farm, which was officially launched in September.
