An Air Transat Airbus A330 (registration number C-GUBF) was en route to flight TS-187 from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to Toronto, Ontario.Due to bad weather and fuel conditions, the flight was eventually diverted to Hamilton International Airport due to safety concerns.

According to reports, the flight carried a total of 278 passengers and 11 crew members. The aircraft entered a holding state at an altitude of 26,000 feet due to weather conditions on its way to Toronto.

While waiting, the crew notified air traffic control of the minimum fuel conditions and issued a "PAN PAN" emergency signal in anticipation of further delays, before deciding to divert to Hamilton.

On the downwind leg to Hamilton, the crew upgraded the emergency signal to "MAYDAY" (the highest level distress signal) due to ongoing fuel concerns. In the end, the plane landed safely on Hamilton's Runway 12 about 50 minutes after sending the distress signal.

According to a preliminary report from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB),The remaining fuel when the aircraft landed was 3,420 kilograms, which was lower than the minimum required fuel amount of 3,900 kilograms calculated by the crew.

This action showed that the crew followed standard procedures for responding to fuel tight conditions and made prudent decisions to ensure safety.
