On March 4, Apple officially released the new notebook product MacBook Neo, which focuses on "bringing Mac experience at a breakthrough price" and is aimed at a wider range of people such as students, families, small and micro businesses, and new users who are coming into contact with Mac for the first time. MacBook Neo adopts a new aluminum metal body design and is available in four colors: blush, indigo, silver and a new citrus. The corners of the fuselage are more rounded and weighs about 2.7 pounds. It focuses on thinness, portability and durability.
Apple said the keyboard color matches the body and is paired with new wallpapers, making the MacBook Neo the most colorful MacBook to date.

MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408×1506, up to 500 nits of brightness, and support for displaying 1 billion colors. Officials say that this screen is superior to most PC notebooks in the same price range in terms of brightness and resolution, and uses an anti-reflective coating to improve the look and feel when watching movies, editing photos, or making video calls in different light environments.

In terms of performance, MacBook Neo is equipped with Apple's self-developed A18 Pro chip, which integrates a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU and 16-core neural network engine, focusing on enhancing the processing capabilities of daily applications and local AI tasks. Comparative data provided by Apple shows that compared to the highest-selling PC notebooks currently on the market equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra 5 processors, MacBook Neo can be up to 50% faster in daily tasks such as web browsing, up to 3 times faster in local AI loads (such as applying advanced effects to photos), and up to 2 times faster in tasks such as photo editing. Thanks to the 16-core Neural Engine, the device can quickly run Apple Intelligence and other AI functions locally, such as summarizing notes in Bear, using the Cleanup tool in the Photos app, etc., while emphasizing the privacy and security of user data. The whole machine adopts a fanless design, which can maintain a silent experience under high load.

In terms of battery life, thanks to the energy efficiency of Apple Silicon, MacBook Neo can achieve up to about 16 hours of use on a single charge in wireless web browsing and video playback scenarios, positioning it as an all-weather device for mobile office and learning scenarios such as classrooms and cafes. Apple conducted testing with pre-production prototypes in the lab, using 25 commonly used websites for wireless web testing, and playing 1080p streaming content in Safari. The screen brightness was set to a unified standard. Actual battery life performance will still vary depending on usage and configuration.
MacBook Neo also continues Apple's design ideas for keyboards and trackpads. It is equipped with the highly recognized Magic Keyboard, which emphasizes key travel and input accuracy. It is also equipped with a large-area Multi-Touch trackpad that supports multiple gestures such as clicking, scrolling, sliding, and pinching. Select models also integrate Touch ID fingerprint recognition, which can be used to quickly and securely unlock the computer and authenticate payments through Apple Pay.

In terms of image and audio configuration, MacBook Neo is equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and optimizes image processing to improve video call quality under various lighting conditions. The dual-microphone array supports directional beamforming technology, which can weaken environmental noise and highlight human voices, making voice transmission clearer during video conferencing. The speakers on both sides of the fuselage support spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, which can provide a more immersive sound field effect when watching movies, listening to music, or using applications such as GarageBand.

In terms of connectivity, the MacBook Neo body is equipped with two USB-C interfaces and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The left USB-C is USB 3 specification and is also the only port that supports external monitors. The right side is USB 2 specification; both interfaces can be used for charging. In terms of wireless networks, MacBook Neo supports Wi‑Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6 to ensure higher bandwidth and a more stable wireless connection experience.

At the software level, MacBook Neo is pre-installed with macOS Tahoe, which provides built-in applications such as Safari, "Photos", "Messages", and "FaceTime", and is deeply integrated with Apple Intelligence, including writing tools, real-time translation and other intelligent functions. The system's built-in privacy and security mechanisms include end-to-end encryption, malware protection, and automatic free security updates to improve overall security. For iPhone users, macOS enables cross-device collaboration through the Continuity feature: users can use Handoff to seamlessly switch tasks between Mac and iPhone, copy and paste content between devices through the Universal Clipboard, and use iPhone Mirroring to view and operate the iPhone interface directly on MacBook Neo. For users transitioning from iPhone to Mac for the first time, data such as settings, files, photos, passwords, and more can also be safely migrated through iPhone.
In terms of environmental protection, Apple positions MacBook Neo as the MacBook with the lowest carbon emissions to date and emphasizes that the product uses 60% recycled materials, the highest proportion among all current Apple products. Among them, the proportion of recycled aluminum in the overall aluminum of the fuselage reaches 90%, and the battery uses 100% recycled cobalt. The shell uses a higher-material-efficiency molding process that uses 50% less aluminum than traditional CNC machining, while being manufactured using 45% renewable electricity in the supply chain, such as wind and solar. MacBook Neo also meets Apple's internal standards for energy efficiency and chemical safety, and its paper packaging is 100% fiber-based, making it easy for users to recycle.
In terms of price and sales information, MacBook Neo is available for online pre-order from now on in 30 countries and regions including the United States. It will be delivered to users starting from March 11 and will be sold in Apple retail stores and authorized dealer channels. The product starts at $599 in the US market and $499 in education channels, and is also available in blush pink, indigo, silver and citrus yellow. Users can view more detailed technical specifications, custom configuration options and accessory information on Apple’s official website.

At the same time, Apple continues to promote the trade-in program on Mac products. Users can visit the official website to evaluate existing devices to offset part of the cost of purchasing MacBook Neo. In terms of after-sales and service, purchasers can choose AppleCare+, and in the US market, they can also choose AppleCare One, which integrates multiple devices into a single protection plan. Both cover accidental damage such as drops and liquid immersion, as well as eligible device theft and loss protection, support battery replacement services, and provide 7×24-hour Apple expert support. Users who purchase a device through Apple retail channels can also enjoy personalized setup services, with specialists remotely guiding them to complete device configuration or provide instructions on specific functions and applications. They can also further learn how to get started with new devices through "Today at Apple" courses. In the U.S., you can choose 0-interest installments and enjoy 3% Daily Cash back when purchasing a MacBook Neo with Apple Card.
While releasing MacBook Neo, Apple also emphasized its consistent brand positioning: providing a complete ecological experience from devices to services through integrated software and hardware design. From iPhone, iPad, Mac, to Apple Watch, AirPods and Apple Vision Pro, to the six major operating systems and services such as App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, etc., Apple hopes to further extend the Mac ecosystem to a wider user group with the help of the more price-competitive MacBook Neo.
