Currently, Meta has suddenly shut down three VR games on Oculus Rift and MetaQuest devices: the Western multiplayer shooter "Dead and Buried" (developed by "Remnant 2" developer Gunfire Games) and its sequel "Dead and Buried 2", and the VR pet simulation game "Bogo".

According to the official email received by users, "Dead and Buried" will be officially closed on March 15, 2024. Before then, players can still play the game on their devices.

According to media reports such as UploadVR and RoadtoVR, players of the sequels "Dead and Buried 2" and "Bogo" also received similar news from the officials, and the service closure date is also March 15.

These messages are all explanations for why the game was shut down. However, all three games are older games. "Dead and Buried" was released in 2016, and the sequel was released in 2019. "Bogo" was also launched in 2019.

Among them, "Bogo" is not even a multiplayer game that requires online servers to play. According to the store page, it supports Quest, Ques2, and QuestPro. However, Meta is currently launching Quest3 hardware, and it is possible that this game will not be compatible with future hardware; but this does not explain why Meta decided to remove the game.

At the same time, "Dead and Buried 2" is a buyout game priced at US$20 (most of its previous games were sold in hardware bundles, while "Bogo" is a free game), but the official has not announced any compensation or compensation.

Previously, another action competitive VR game "EchoArena" also officially closed its services on August 1 this year. At the time, Meta stated that this was mainly due to the insufficient number of active users of the game.

Meta has not yet responded to media requests for comment on some of the above issues.
