The bad blood between Rockstar and Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has escalated again. The conflict that has been undercurrent since the end of 2023 was completely ignited recently due to the public remarks of a GTA 6 core developer. This move is extremely rare for Rockstar, which is known for its "silence is golden".

The trigger for the incident was when a fan posted a photo of Schreier on social media with the text: "Waiting for this guy to finally break some good news about "GTA6"." Surprisingly, Rockstar's lead character artist Saikat Kolayi directly responded to the post: "No. We don't want him to stick his nose into our company and projects."
This reply quickly exploded in the player community, triggering heated discussions. Soon after, Kolay's social account was canceled and the original post was deleted. Its content is currently only visible in screenshots circulating online.

Tensions between Rockstar and Schreier date back to November 2023. On November 8, 2023, Schreier broke the news that Rockstar plans to officially release the first trailer in early December. A few hours later, Rockstar officially confirmed the news. According to well-known whistleblower Tez2, Rockstar president Sam Hauser was extremely dissatisfied with this at the time and even seriously considered postponing the official announcement for a week just to "disgust Schreier." However, other executives ultimately discouraged the idea.
Rockstar has always been known for cracking down on leaks. The studio has fired employees over data breaches, sent legal warning letters to modders, and almost never allows developers to publicly comment on any internal matters. It is precisely because of this that Kolay's "shooting" is particularly shocking - it is rare for an Rockstar employee to publicly express his dissatisfaction with a reporter.
So far, Rockstar has not made any official response to Kolay's remarks. Among the player community, this incident also triggered diametrically opposed views: one side called Schreier a "rat" and applauded Kolay's forthrightness; the other side believed that this was just a "schoolboy quarrel" caused by long-term grudges and was unprofessional.
