NVIDIA officially released the RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12GB GDDR7 version today, and Framework also launched the RTX 5070 12GB independent graphics card upgrade module for its 16-inch modular notebook. This module only increases the video memory from 8GB to 12GB, but the price soars directly from US$699 (about 4796 yuan) to US$1199 (about 8226 yuan), an increase of 72%.

At present, the global supply of video memory continues to be tight, and the price of memory chips is soaring. This problem is clearly reflected in the new graphics card module of Framework.
In terms of core hardware specifications, the CUDA core, frequency, power consumption, architecture, etc. of the 12GB and 8GB graphics card modules are exactly the same: both have 4608 cores, a base frequency of 2.0GHz, an acceleration frequency of 2.4GHz, and a unified upper limit of power consumption of 100W.
The memory bit width is 128-bit, the bandwidth is 384GB/s, and both are equipped with NVIDIA laptop GDDR7 memory; they are also equipped with the fourth-generation ray tracing core and the fifth-generation tensor core, supporting DLSS 4 technology; the video codec specifications, interface configuration, and body size and weight are also the same.

When running large-scale AAA games, ultra-high-definition creation, professional 3D modeling or large-scale rendering and other tasks that are extremely demanding on graphics memory, the 12GB large graphics memory can show its advantages. In mainstream usage environments such as daily gaming, office work, and audio-visual entertainment, there is almost no difference between the two experiences.
Both RTX 5070 graphics card modules are perfectly compatible with the full range of Framework Laptop 16 models, covering the two major processor versions of Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen 7040.The 12GB version is currently on pre-sale and is expected to be officially shipped in June 2026.
