The joint investigation team of Dangshan County, Suzhou, Anhui Province issued an official report, making a clear conclusion on the incident of "Mercury in Bawang Chaji milk tea" that has caused heated discussions recently:The foreign objects in the milk tea were placed by the purchaser themselves. The persons involved have been controlled by the police and the case is under further investigation.
The incident dates back to April 27. Consumer Ms. Wang (pseudonym) posted on social platforms that she found multiple silver liquid metal particles, suspected to be mercury, in the milk tea she purchased at the Bawang Tea Ji store in Dangshan Wanda Plaza.

She claimed that the tactile sensation was abnormal when drinking, and the particles could roll on her hands. She then went to the store to negotiate and call the police, and also complained to the market supervision department.
After the incident broke out, the local government quickly established a joint investigation team composed of the County Market Supervision Bureau, Public Security Bureau and other departments to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the stores involved.
Law enforcement officers sealed the drinks, raw materials and equipment involved, retrieved full-link surveillance videos, and sent samples of foreign objects for inspection.

After comprehensive investigation and verification, officials confirmed that there were no abnormalities in the raw materials, production equipment and operating procedures of the store involved, and there was no source of mercury.
Combining the surveillance video, physical evidence identification and the interview transcripts of the parties, it was finally determined that the silver particles in the milk tea were placed by the purchaser, Ms. Wang, after purchasing the drink.
