On May 9, in response to outside discussions about the "four-year replacement cycle of the new Ideal L9 Livis, which is too long", Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, issued a statement, bluntly stating that the R&D and verification pace of the automotive industry cannot match that of mobile phones.
He said that cars are related to the life safety of the family. From design to mass production, they need to go through a large number of rigorous tests, repeatedly verifying and polishing every detail. "Take media car teardowns as an example. This is just the 'basic operation' of car companies." He revealed that the team will dismantle a large number of Ideal L9 road test cars and repeatedly check whether they meet the design calibration. To obtain a sufficient number of high-value road test vehicles with long enough mileage and complex working conditions requires a large investment of time.
Regarding the application of AI technology in the field of automotive testing, he also clearly pointed out that although AI is powerful, the improvement in efficiency in the actual vehicle verification process is "still limited" and cannot replace the real road testing and physical verification process.
