The reporter learned from Galaxy Aerospace (Beijing) Technology Group Co., Ltd. on May 18 that the large-diameter deployable umbrella antenna independently developed by the company has recently rolled off the production line. This is the first high-performance spaceborne "umbrella antenna" developed by a commercial aerospace company in China, and can be applied to satellite platforms with high storage ratio requirements.

Xu Zhi, chief engineer of Galaxy Space Payload, said that like the umbrellas used daily, the umbrella antenna will be tightly packed into a very small size before launch, and then unfolded into a communication reflector antenna after the satellite is in orbit. At present, the company's 1-meter umbrella antenna storage ratio has reached less than 12%, and this core indicator has reached the international advanced level. At the same time, the R&D team has created an original high-efficiency mesh forming technology, which can increase the development efficiency by more than 70% and achieve "one mesh forming".
It is reported that this umbrella antenna can not only greatly increase the communication capacity of low-orbit communication satellites, but can also be used in many fields such as remote sensing and navigation. In the future, it will work together with the "wing array integrated" large flat-panel antenna and become a key product to realize the core function of direct connection of mobile phones to satellites.
