Microsoft has added a new badge to users' Xbox profiles to commemorate the recent closure of its Xbox Live Gold subscription service. This golden badge is designed to reward all users who have previously subscribed to the service. The name of the president is "XboxLiveGold2002–2023", commemorating the 21 years since Microsoft first launched XboxLive on the original Xbox console.

If you were an Xbox Live subscriber before, Microsoft also issued commemorative badges to all users on the 20th anniversary of the service last year.

In July this year, Microsoft announced that it would shut down the Xbox Live Gold subscription service and replace it with another product, Xbox Game Pass Core. Gold's service is similar to a PS+ subscription and will provide selected games for free every month, while Xbox Game Pass Core will provide a fixed game catalog that changes several times a year.

Xbox Game Pass Core launched on September 14 and includes 36 games, including first-party games such as "Gears of War 5" and "Hellblade", as well as selected indie games such as "Among Us" and "Stardew Valley".

Xbox Live Gold's online gaming capabilities will still be included in the new subscription service, and the monthly subscription price will remain unchanged.
