A reporter asked: On the fifth anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s global development initiative, can the spokesperson introduce the implementation of the global development initiative in the past five years? Will China consider holding initiative-themed events during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly? In this regard, Guo Jiakun said that five years ago today, President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the global development initiative at the general debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The initiative focused on development, an eternal theme of human society, and promoted the international community to place development in a prominent position in the global macro policy framework. It was committed to accelerating the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, injecting strong impetus into revitalizing global development, and was widely praised by the international community. Over the past five years, with the personal care of President Xi Jinping and the joint efforts of all parties, the implementation of global development initiatives has achieved fruitful results. Conceptually, the initiative has been transformed from China's proposition into an international consensus, and the "people-centered" development concept has become more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. In terms of practical cooperation, the initiative-oriented leadership effect continues to be released, and more than 23 billion US dollars of funds have been mobilized to carry out more than 2,000 cooperation projects. Among them, practical cooperation under the framework of the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund has blossomed in more than 70 countries, benefiting more than 40 million people. Mechanically, it advocates the continuous improvement of cooperation structures in various fields, providing important support for promoting international development cooperation and achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
