[Meta Personal Intelligence Stirs Optimism, Artificial Intelligence Trading Comes Back] September 22: As Meta Platforms Inc.’s newly launched personal intelligence shows initial signs of success, the market’s optimistic expectations for chip demand have been boosted again, and global artificial intelligence (AI) stocks have risen in response. Previously, the sector had faced difficult situations due to calls to slow down the development of AI. Shares of South Korean chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both rose about 3%, helping the benchmark Kospi index rise nearly 2%. Overnight, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed up 4.3%, its largest one-day gain since August 4, while Meta shares soared 11%. This round of gains stems from the fact that Meta’s Muse AI agent quickly topped Apple’s free app rankings after its launch earlier this month. Risk appetite was further boosted by lower oil prices amid market expectations for diplomatic progress in the Iran war. The trend also provides a breather for the hot AI deal, which had previously been under pressure due to overvaluation and recently had leaders in the technology industry expressing concerns about the existential threat posed by advanced models. Muse's early popularity provides new evidence that demand for AI remains strong, easing some concerns.
