[Honorary Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology Wan Gang: Three major paths for building resilient growth in the automotive industry] On September 22, Honorary Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology Wan Gang proposed three core paths for building resilient growth in the automotive industry at the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Conference: First, promote electrification transformation, achieve multi-channel synergy, promote pure electric, plug-in hybrid, extended-range hybrid and fuel cell vehicles according to local conditions, and steadily promote green changes in energy use in the transportation field; second, expand the application of hydrogen energy and promote cross-domain implementation and large-scale development. At present, the penetration rate of fuel cell vehicles in the field of medium and long-distance commercial vehicles is less than 0.5%. It faces multiple challenges such as insufficient layout of high-speed trunk hydrogenation network and difficulty in balancing vehicle endurance and cargo capacity. Fuel cell vehicles are suitable for medium-to-long-distance and high-load transportation scenarios, and are an important technical route for new energy heavy trucks to meet the needs of medium-to-long-distance transportation. The third is to accelerate intelligent upgrades and rely on integrated innovation to create a new engine for transformation and upgrading.
