[Dissatisfied with BHP Billiton’s pay plan, the world’s largest Chilean copper mine union calls on members to strike] On September 23, union leaders representing a quarter of BHP Billiton’s full-time employees at Chile’s Escondida copper mine called on union members to reject the company’s final wage plan, which increased the risk of a strike at the world’s largest copper mine. In a video released late Tuesday, union leaders representing more than 1,000 supervisors and employees said the company's plan fell short of requirements and required workers to perform multiple tasks.
