[The number of deaths due to high temperature in Slovakia this year has hit a ten-year record] On September 23, the Slovak Statistics Office recently released a report stating that 12 people in the country have died directly due to high temperature in 2026, setting a new high in the past ten years. The Bureau of Statistics pointed out that high temperatures may indirectly cause death by aggravating chronic diseases or other diseases, which is difficult to reflect in direct cause of death statistics. Research by the World Health Organization and relevant experts shows that extreme high temperatures will increase the health risks of cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic diseases, as well as diabetes.
